I spent almost 2 hours looking for
a similar apron to the one my deceased mother-in-law gave me many
years ago. Then I thought, "see if there's a label." And
there was, from your company! They are the BEST aprons ever and now
I'll be getting a new one for Christmas.
Hi...I just received my 'Chickens
and Eggs Apron' and want to share my story with you. I sent this
story to my family and friends. I enjoy your style of apron and wear
one most every day. My story is titled: Great Grandma Johanna wore a serious apron. She stitched it herself from dark striped cloth remnants. She wore it when we great grand children visited and looked especially tall and serious in her vertically striped apron. I have an old photo of her feeding the backyard chickens with cracked corn that she tossed from the hold of her apron. Then she used the same apron to hold the eggs she gathered from the straw nests in the hen house and carry them back to the farm kitchen. Aunts and Great Aunts tied their apron strings for the celebratory kitchen food prep when we gathered to honor Great Aunt Loretta's and Great Uncle Andrew's 50th Wedding Anniversary. There were aprons to match all the personalities of the party prep participants. Some aprons were ruffly with lace trim and flower print. Many aprons had rick-rick trim sewed in contrasting colors. Some had bibs but most were waist tied and bib-less. I don't remember any with serious subdued stripes, but they all said the same thing: We know what we're doing in this savory scented kitchen.
My latest apron serves a as a
pinafore, a bib and a connection to my apron heritage. However, I
didn't stitch it from remnants. I ordered it online from my favorite on-line
apron site: kitchenwears.com. I wear it from early morning pancake
flipping through noon vegetable stir frying, on to hot tea sipping
and refrigerator snacking. I don't feed chickens or gather eggs in
it, but my new apron has a chickens and eggs motif. The chickens are
white with red combs and yellow feet. They look very alert and
fashionable with their perky tail feathers and high held heads. The
chickens are surrounded by eggs. Eggs. And more eggs. These are
bountiful layers of white oval eggs. I feel like a perky chick in my
chic, colorful apron. I can't imagine Great Grandma Johanna feeling
like a perky chick in her sensible apron of subdued vertical stripes.
But perhaps she did resonate with the chickens who scurried around
and scrabbled for the cracked corn as she tossed it from her apron.
In the old worn black and white photo, she seems to have a pleased
expression on her face as she broadcasts corn to the alert happy hens.
I'll now own four of your wonderful
aprons-one for Christmas season, one for dinner parties (the eyelet)
and two for everyday. You've made me into an apron junkie, but I
really live in them. Thanks for making such a great product.
Now that the aprons have arrived, I
must say that your website pictures do not do them justice. We are
over the moon with the colour and quality of the material and the
overall workmanship and design of the aprons, so it's a big THANK YOU
for them.
